:: Picnic Rollup Christmas Quilt

Last year when I made this christmas quilt for my Mom, I also made one for me. Same fabric line (I threw in a little pink fabric), but different pattern.  I thought this pattern looked like wrapped presents.

I quilted it in a stippling pattern all over the main part, and then tried my hand at a simple free-motion design in the red borders.  It was thrilling... like drawing on fabric.  Only the pencil (needle) doesn't move - the paper (fabric) does.  =)  I love the way it turned out.  And I think the quilting process may be my new favorite part of making a quilt.

Wouldn't you just love to have a christmas quilt for every room, bed, and couch of the house?  I know I sure would.

Fabric: 12 Days of Christmas (Kate Spain), and a few others
Pattern:  Picnic Rollup (C. Roskelley)

  1. I totally agree! Free hand quilting is my favorite part of the quilting process!
